Yes, nobody wanted Steam at the time but guess what, nobody wanted any launcher to be tied with their gaming at the time as the user usually ended getting burned more than not by companies who didn't care about PC gaming. Probly the closest thing that was tolerable for the end user back then was Battle dot net and not every game showed up on that launcher.

I do wish people stop downplaying that PC gaming was this magic user friendly utopia when Valve unveiled Steam. I always felt that how valve "acquired" DOTA was nearly as dirty as what old zenimax used to do to studios.

If Epic wants to splash out cash to try and build a more consistent market share for themselves, why should we care? Valve clearly doesn't, they're not getting into a bidding war with anyone because they're about 70% of the global PC gaming market, and clearly don't see a need to. Is the problem simply that you couldn't buy the game from your preferred launcher? You can easily add a non-steam game to steam and get steam inputs in most cases, I played all of Stardew Valley from GOG and Mass Effect Andromeda on EA Origin through steam with my steam controller. I bought the microsoft store version it worked for about a day then all the issues began, then I got an Epic voucher so bought that version thinking it would be better, but if anything it actually ran even worse - stuttering and hitching all over the place whatever setting or resolution I used, my disk usage would always be at 100% when playing it, I will not be buying it here, I am just hoping that now that its on steam, and when all the posts start coming in about it being a stuttering broken mess for lots of people that they will finally fix it.Click to shrink. Thank you for the answer! This makes we want to buy it, but im still not certain. To give you more of an idea of how much better it is I just downloaded and tried playing the Microsoft store version last week. Game has all resolutions for me, although it did crash once while I was trying to change graphics settings. The performance especially is night and day I get about 25 fps more than I did on the Microsoft store version, and minimal stutter. I actually came to the forum to make a post about this. Escrito originalmente por Lans Carpool:Yes, it is much better.
